This study identifies key measures necessary to build the Ghana Commodity Exchange in order to create an orderly, efficient, sustainable and transparent marketing system for commodity trading in Ghana. A commodity trading system with these characteristics will promote agricultural investment, enhance productivity, facilitate the formalization of informal agricultural trading activities, encourage market access and fair returns for smallholder farmers and ensure consistent supply of quality commodities to processors and consumers.
